Ta Khut (The Light in ancient Egyptian)

On the grounds of the Posada Ayana, in José Ignacio, Uruguay, is the first free-standing Skyspace in South America with the name "Ta Khut", which means "The Light" in ancient Egyptian. The clients were Robert and Edda Kofler, who were so impressed by the art of James Turrell on their trips to Lech and Argentina, among other places, that they suggested building a Skyspace in the park of the small hotel complex. In close collaboration with the Häusler Contemporary gallery, this Skyspace was created from merlot-colored granite, Lapacho wood and pure white marble from Laas in South Tyrol, and James Turrell was personally present at its opening in November 2021. Thus, barefoot luxury, design, and art merge seamlessly at Posada Ayana, just a stone's throw from La Mansa beach.
